Here are the descriptions of some activities where you can participate and help
Ongoing Recurring Activities
Highway Cleanup
In partnership with “Keep Brevard Beautiful”, a group of knights collects trash and debris to maintain clean a section of US 1 between Parkway Rd. and Lake Washington Rd. on the first Friday of each month. |
Daily Bread
In coordination with other councils and organizations, serve meals for the needy at the Daily Bread facility in Melbourne on the 4th Sunday of the month. |
Wonderful Wednesdays
This provides a fellowship opportunity for Ascension parishioners and the community, while also serving as a fundraiser activity. Weekly meals are offered seasonally each week on most Wednesdays, |
Food for Families
Food is collected on the first Saturday/Sunday each month for distribution at Ascension Social Concerns. Additional donations may be made through annual Scouting for Food and USPS Stamp Out Hunger food drives. |
Fall / Advent / Christmas
Soccer Challenge
Provide an athletic outlet for boys and girls and encourage the values of sportsmanship through a soccer free kick competition. The local competition is coordinated with Ascension Catholic School. The Council also supports District, Regional and State competitions. |
Parish Picnic
An annual picnic is put on at Wickham Park with a great deal of involvement by the knights to provide fellowship and celebrate the people of the parish. |
Life Chain
An opportunity to publicly display support of the pro-life cause by conducting a Life Chain in the Fall. |
Coats for Kids
Provide warmth for deserving children during cold winter months. The knights coordinate the procurement and shipment of coats to partnering organizations for distribution to children. |
Catholic Citizenship Essay
Ascension Catholic School 8th grade students are invited to participate in the annual Knights of Columbus Citizenship Essay Contest. This event encourages youth to become citizens gounded in their faith through creative writing. Pumpkin Patch
The Council makes the Knights House available to the youth of Ascension Life Teen for their fundraiser sales. Pallets of pumpkins are acquired by the Life Teen leadership and knights assist in unloading and staging approximately 1000 pumpkins from a semi-tractor trailer to be sold by the teens prior to Halloween. |
Trunk or Treat
Annual safe environment trick-or-treat event in the parish grounds by the Knights House. The Council purchases or accepts donations of candy for the event. BBQ is also served. Tootsie Roll Drive for Intellectual Disabilities
Conduct a Tootsie Roll Drive to raise funds and provide financial support to organizations that care for individuals with intellectual disabilities. |
Keep Christ In Christmas
Promote the true spirit of Christmas in our homes, schools, parishes and communities. Each Advent, a KCIC banner and nativity scene is setup on church grounds facing US-1. KCIC magnets are sold after Masses during Advent. The Council also sponsors a poster contest with Ascension Catholic School.

Global Wheelchair Mission
Donate funds to the American Wheelchair Mission. This group purchases wheelchairs at a discounted price and distributes to a person in need of mobility. |
Polar Plunge for Florida Special Olympics
Celebrate the intrinsic worth and dignity of every single human being through the Special Olympics. Contribute to the Florida Special Olympics campaign by donating the proceeds of a Polar Plunge conducted locally by a team of knights. See the 2024 video HERE! |
Winter / Lent
Free Throw Championship
Provide an athletic outlet for boys and girls and encourage the values of sportsmanship through a basketball free throw competition. The local competition is coordinated with Ascension Catholic School. The Council also supports District, Regional and State competitions. |
40 Cans for Lent
The council encourages parishioners to pledge to bring 40 cans of food prior to Mass during the weekends in Lent. The food is collected by the knights and distributed to those in need through the parish’s Social Concerns organization. |
Lenten Fish Frys
This provides a fellowship opportunity for Ascension parishioners and the community via a Fish Fry on Fridays during Lent. This also serves as a fundraiser. |
Deployed Spouse Appreciation Dinner
Members of the Assembly, Council and Ladies Auxiliary join together on Patrick Space Force Base at the Family Readiness Center to sponsor the annual Family Dinner for service families whose spouses are away on assignment. A team of Knights prepared, delivered and served dinners for dozens of service families with a menu catered for adults and kids. The Ladies Auxiliary team lead the kids in activities and provide bags of goodies and arts and crafts projects for the kids. |
Spring / Easter
Support to Disabled South Vietnamese Veterans
An authentic Vietnamese meal is prepared by a volunteer knight family and sold to parishioners to raise financial support for disabled South Vietnamese veterans who fought alongside with US service members. |
Pregnancy Center Support/Aid and Support after Pregnancy (ASAP)
Change hearts and minds about abortion by showing that we love both mother and child before and after birth. The Council plans to conduct a Baby Bottle Boomerang to raise funds for Pregnancy Centers and ASAP. |
